Morning: Depart Shimla by 8am. NH5 through Jubbarhatti. Stop at Theog for parathas β roadside stall on the left, can't miss it.
Afternoon: Reach Narkanda by 1pm. Drop bags. Walk the Hatu Peak trail (2hr easy loop). Apple orchards are in full fruit in August.
Evening: Dinner at Hotel Hatu's rooftop. Order the mutton thali. Sleep early β long day tomorrow.

Key Monastery: 12th century. 4,166m. The monks serve butter tea at 7am if you arrive before tourists. Get there by 6:30am.
Langza: Fossil village at 4,460m. Ask the shopkeeper near the Buddha statue β he'll show you where to find ammonite fossils in the field behind his house.
Kibber: Snow leopard territory. You won't see one β but knowing they're nearby does something to you.

π Shree's local find: In Kaza, there's a home kitchen called "Maa ki Rasoi" on the lane behind the main market. No sign outside. Knock and ask for the thukpa. Open 7pmβ10pm only. The owner, Dolma-ji, has been cooking the same recipe for 22 years.

Best view in Narkanda. Sit outside if weather allows. Arrives slow, worth the wait.

Order: Thenthuk soup on cold mornings. Best warming dish in Spiti.
